NYX One Night in Morocco Eyeshadow Set
I have always been a fan of eye shadows. In the past, I had not branched much further out than basic pressed powder shadows. This is mostly because I did not want to spend a lot on a color that I might only use a few times. The eye shadows that I had used never required a base coat or an actual makeup brush. It was all just pretty basic. When I was given the NYX One Night in Morocco eyeshadow set to review, I was actually quite pleased to see eight shade options to create a nice smokey look with.
I decided to start with the four shades on the left, because I wanted something a little brighter for during the day. The first step was to put on the base coat. I used a larger brush for the base coat and placed a thin coating all the way up to my eyebrows. The base coat was pretty velvety and not as sticky as I thought it would be.
Next I put on some brown eye liner, just at the base of my eye lashes. Then I started with the shadows. The first one that I used was the white. I used the white to highlight just under my eyebrows. Then working my way down, I used the gray for the crease and the dark brown just above the eyeliner. Last was the cream color that I used to color my eyelid and a little glow in the inside corner of my eye. Next, the most important part was to blend.
The best part about this shadow set is that the eyeshadow base coat keeps the color in place, but also that the powder is a semi-loose powder that blends very easily. Using brushes for this eyeshadow set is certainly recommended because it blends the shadows very nicely. The end result was a beautiful nice daytime smokey look.
After wearing the eye shadow all day at work, I was quite pleased to see that the color had stayed pretty well.
The following evening, I decided to try out the four colors on the right. This is a little bit more of an evening smokey look. Again, these colors blended very well. I really liked the darker smokey look, it was very sultry and great for an evening out. With the darker colors, you do have to be a little more careful, I used small brushes for the dark colors, because once the colors touch the base coat on your eye, they tend to stick and stay right where you placed it. It is hard to erase mistakes without re-doing the entire eye. However, this does make the color stay well. I never got any clumps of shadow in the creases on my eye after wearing the shadows all day. What beautiful color!
In the bottom level of the makeup, there are two lip glosses. A lovely bonus to the great shadow set. Just keep in mind that you don’t want to make your lips too dark. When you are wearing the smokey look on your eyes, you want your eyes to be your focus, not your lips. The lip glosses included are sheer and great to wear along with the shadows, just don’t put it on too thick. I hope that you enjoy the NYX One Night in Morocco eyeshadow set, I know that I will!

Rene Furterer Sun Care Haircare: Nourishing After Sun Shampoo & Mask
Hello my lovelies. Hillary from Byhillary here and I have a confession to make. This isn’t my natural hair color. You’re in shock I know. I have been dyeing my hair various shades of red for about 17 years now starting the summer before I started high school. Red is by far the hardest color to maintain. (I speak from experience!) I swear it starts fading before you have even washed the dye out of your hair. There are things I do to try and maintain it. I use color deposit shampoos and don’t wash it daily, but it still fades before the roots even grow in. The sun is the worst. I usually get frustrated in the middle of the summer and swear I won’t dye it again until fall hits and the harsh summer sun goes to bed for the winter. I always break down and end up dyeing it because I get embarrassed by the sad faded shade it ends up becoming. From the years of dyeing and heat styling my hair is like hay. It’s dry and prone to breakage.
Then I discovered hair care products with SPF! The lovely people of Rene Furterer sent me a variety of their Sun Care to review.
From Rene Furterer:
“Sun protection is an essential step in both you skin care and hair care routines. The sun’s powerful rays can be damaging on strands, especially those that have been highlighted or colored, making them dry, rough, and difficult to style. To protect hair against the harmful effects of the sun, Rene Furterer has created the first, exclusive sun protection system for hair, with a Keratin Protection Factor (KPF) that scientifically measures the amount of Keratin it protects.”
I gave it a month of using the products so I could know for certain if they were actually working. I washed with the Nourishing Sun After Sun Shampoo (retails for $23 for 5.1 oz.). It cleaned gently but effectively removing all products and left my hair clean without stripping it. Every few days I would apply a healthy sized dollop of the Repairing After Sun Mask (retails for $42 for 6.7 oz.). I applied it after washing and let it sit for 5 minutes and would comb it before rinsing. It did everything it claimed. It left my hair insanely “soft, shiny and supple” and had a pleasing delicate smell. My one small complaint is that I wish the Sun Mask didn’t come in a jar. It is very difficult to open the jar in the shower, hold it in one hand and scoop product with the other and then recap it. I would put it in a a bottle or tube like the shampoo that you can squeeze and easily snap the cap back on like the shampoo. After towel drying my hair I would spray some No Rinse Moisturizing Spray (retails for $23 for 5 oz.), It detangled my hair which is something that most conditioners can’t do. You can see from the photo above how much I loved it in the short time I have been using it. You have to shake it before use. When left to sit, it separates in two parts a clear and a milk white part on top. It also didn’t weigh my hair down at all like many leave in conditioners do. When I knew I was going to be in the sun for more than a minute, right after I applied my body SPF I would give my hair a spray with the Waterproof Moisturizing Fluid SPF 90(retails for $23 for 4.2 oz.). It is meant to block UV ultraviolet rays. It is non oily and leaves a natural look and doesn’t weigh it down. Since it is waterproof it will protect you hair all day even after swimming.
This is my hair after 3 weeks of use with no other product in it in this photos. I actually air dried my hair in 95 degree heat, high humidity and with the car windows down! I have not been able to air dry my hair in what feels like years. It didn’t frizz even with the extreme humidity and it stayed soft and untangled. I haven’t dyed my hair in over a month but my color is still good. I have had friends who had no idea I was testing hair products tell me how much they were loving my hair. While these products are not cheap I see them as a great investment if you have colored hair. If I was to only buy one I would buy the Repairing After Sun Mask. It just made my hair feel so great I looked forward to using it.
Rene Furterer products are available at Beauty.com, spalook.com as well as fine salons and spas nationwide. Call 1-800-522-8285 for a location near you.
