- Actions Speak Louder Than Words.
The Shady Maple Smorgasbord, a Mennonite-owned restaurant in Pennsylvania, was threatened by boycotts and loss of business when they were falsely accused of denying military members service in their restaurant. Even though Mennonites are known for their stance against military action, the Shady Maple was always happy to serve those fighting for our country. To counteract the damaging rumor, the owners offered a 25 percent Veteran’s Day discount to active military members as well as veterans. Their positive action worked. More than 17,000 customers dined at the restaurant over a two-day period, showing that actions have incredible power to dispel falsehoods.
- Counteract With Positivity. Use your business’s blog, email newsletters and social media venues to spread positive reviews and feedback from customers, vendors and employees. The more you can do to build your positive image, the sooner gossip will fade to the background. Next week we try to get our arms around that concept, though often good buzz gossip is just luck that someone notices all the good you do.
- Consult Professional Damage Control. Companies such as Profile Defenders, Reputation.com and your business legal counsel and others that offer businesses the service of conducting damage control and helping to rebuild a positive reputation. By optimizing search engine keywords and terms, and producing effective business-building blog posts and social media content, companies of this nature can help your business regain previous status by generating content that sheds a more positive light on your business.
Fashion Police is the blog devoted to Fashion Do's & Don'ts. Coco Chanel, reportedly said, "if it's a lousy dress, you notice the dress, if it's a great dress, you notice the woman." This site is dedicated to the proposition that not every woman can be a model but every woman can dress like one. iMakeupModel -- iCompactMirror -- iMakeupMirror is a website with daily updates, photos and ideas on fashion, cosmetics and beauty.

Gossip - The Accelerated Velocity of Terminal Inexactitude
We all know that dull news travels like a snail mail and gossip faster than warp drive. One of our favorite examples comes from the all-too-true movie Easy A starring Emma Stone. Three times in the movie, the director shows us the speed of gossip which Emma calls The Accelerated Velocity of Terminal Inexactitude. In this two part series we explore the "hit like a tornado" impact of bad gossip and next time we will explore how to create "buzz" to warp drive your message for maximum impact for the better. Photo Courtesy Sony.
Denise Lones, founder and owner of the successful real estate marketing group The Lones Group, was in the midst of building a successful business when she noticed a competitor was using a trademark that looked suspiciously similar to her zebra-themed trade dress. When she confronted the competing business about it, she found herself blindsided by the reaction. False accusations, a lawsuit and personal threats occurred in rapid fire succession, causing great personal stress and damage to her business’s reputation.
A successful business results from hard work and effective business-building techniques. One of the most important business-building techniques is a solid reputation. As you’ve worked on the growth of your business, no doubt, you’ve worked equally hard to establish a positive and solid reputation, too. A good reputation in the business community and with your customers requires effort, a focus on customer satisfaction and effective marketing campaigns.
When a disgruntled/dishonest former employee, an unhappy customer or a person who wants to sabotage your success starts spreading gossip and negativity about your business, it can quickly damage the reputation you’ve worked so hard to earn. According to Entrepreneur Magazine Online, technology can cause this type of damage to quickly increase as false information begins to dominate computer search engine results pertaining to your business. The sooner you put an end to gossip and begin working on repairing the damage caused by it, the more quickly you can regain your excellent reputation. Include these considerations in your plans as you clean up the damage and prevent it from progressing.
Recovering from the damage caused by gossip and false accusations can be difficult at best and traumatic at worst. Doing your best to repair your business reputation is not just a matter of necessity; it’s often a matter of principle, too. There’s no reason why someone else’s malicious behavior should ruin years of hard work.
In addition to being proactive, these steps can help you clean up the mess created by gossip and restore the reputation you worked so hard to build.

iMakeupMirror Review - iPhone4 App
This is an independent review by Andrea M. "I was introduced to the iMakeupMirror application today for my iPhone4 and I have to say that I haven't found an app like this one since owning my iPhone. The iMakeupMirror illuminates the screen and enables me to see myself even in the darkest of clubs, bathrooms, or restaurants. As a busy writer who is involved in several local activities I find myself running from place to place when I'm not typing away. From the laptop, to the gym, to a meeting with clients; sometimes I literally pack a bag in the morning and live out of it all day.
This is where the iMakeupMirror has come in handy on numerous occasions. Instead of remembering to pack an extra mirror or compact in my bag that could potentially shatter or break and make a dusty mess in my purse, I simply switch to this app on my phone when a mirror isn't in sight and I need to check myself out. We all know how embarrassing it could be to meet a friend or client after lunch and realize that there's something in your teeth. With this application I don't have to worry about that ever again. I can take a look after every meal when I'm on the go.
I also travel a lot so the iMakeupMirror has been useful when I'm on the plane or waiting for a cab. If you've ever had to go from the airport to a meeting whether it's business or pleasure you want to look your best. The lines are often long for bathrooms, and your make-up bag is tucked away in your suitcase because of TSA regulations. This is when the iMakeupMirror saves the day. You can simply whip it out, do a touch up, smooth fly away hairs, or check your smile before you go. I know that I have had a powder compact burst in my bag a time or two and the experience is messy, costly and overall just a pain. This application completely eliminates the risk of that small tragedy happening.
Excessive clutter in my bag is another reason I love the iMakeupMirror. I like to carry a small bag whenever possible so having this on my phone eliminates the need to try to fit in a separate mirror. If I do carry a large bag and have to carry several items such as a phone, compact, lipstick, wallet, etc., they seem to get lost in the bottom. Having my phone do double duty in this department is great for eliminating another item to clutter the bottom of my bag.
I've also used the iMakeupMirror in a dark club and it worked wonderfully. I was able to reapply lip-gloss without smearing it everywhere and I didn't have to wait in line to use the bathroom mirror. Plus, I was able to carry a sexy little clutch because the only mirror I needed was already in my phone. On a scale from 1-10 on usefulness I'd give this app a 9. It's incredibly handy, and you don't necessarily look like you're looking in a mirror while you're using it (which I love). People assume you're just looking at your phone. If you haven't tried it, please do. Your face will thank you."

Case and Cases and Still More Cell Cases
Have you forgotten to accessorize your most important and most loved accessory? iPhone cases and covers have become the rage among fashionistas, style bloggers, geeks and even stylish soccer moms. Why? Major fashion designers have taken it upon themselves to dress your phone using the same style and quality they might normally reserve for their shoe line.
Whether you follow trends or not, your phone is somewhere you shouldn't skimp. A case protects the phone, makes it easier to hold and less likely to be dropped. Plus, when it's all dressed up and; looks as cool as some of these covers do, you'll want to leave it on the table instead of buried in your purse or pocket. The downside? The covers can be pricey (the most expensive one in this article is $130) and with how "out there" some of them are, you'll likely want a new one in 6-8 weeks when you just plain and simple get tired of looking at it.
Even if you aren't one for trends, you just spend upwards of $200 on your phone. Protect it. Enjoy it. Make it cooler to have an iPhone than it already is. There's something for everyone from edgy or hippy to ultra-feminine so make your iPhone one of your coolest accessories with one of these cases or covers.
Cases for the Nerd
So Cute It's Scary (that's the name, we swear) case from Case-Mate for $28.

This is excellent. The cases that look like something else are so cool. Check out the Retro Cassette tape iPhone case for $25.

Cases and covers with an edge
Marc by Marc Jacobs Panther iPhone 4 cover for $38

Not for the faint of heart, the Jagger Edge Fur iPhone cover is a cool $130. Is it a small animal that jumped inside your purse? Is it a mouse your brother put there to scare you? Keep them guessing. No one will know.

The Mr. and Miss iPhone covers from Marc Jacobs for $38 each might not look like a small animal but they are still a little out there. The Mr. case looks a little like the doctor from a Nightmare Before Christmas, right?

Hippy Style
Life, Nature, Love case from FreeCity. Urban, cool meets techno gadget and it looks a little eco-hipster as well. Find it here for $35.

One of the hottest accessory designers, Tory Burch, moved into the gadget realm with this iPhone cover for $48.

Girly iPhone covers from the major fashion houses
Moving below the $30 price point is Diane Von Furstenberg with the Love is Life iPhone case for $28.

The cheapest cover so far, this leopard sequin case from Forever 21 likely isn't built to last but is definitely a show-stopper while it does. For $9, glitter your heart out.

Continuing with the animal print theme, check out the leather Abas snap on case for $19.

And maybe the most feminine of all, the Juicy Couture "All that Glitters" case is $38.

Flat and Fabulous Unless Your Social Life is Flat As Well
I got an email about a girl wanting implants but peer pressure from other girls gave her concern and other flat-chested girls saying being "flat is fine." I wrote to the "flat and fabulous," saying you may be flat and loving it but breast implants are not just for enlargement, they are for reconstruction from breast cancer, rebuilding from the often extreme deflation after pregnancy (mommy makeover) or weight loss, correction due to natural mis-alignment (body deformity) and many other good reasons. Hopefully you are perfect but so many women aren't and maybe you could take a moment to understand the benefits rather than make all women who get implants feel worse.

Background - Instructor is Tom Cross - developer of TwitterTutors (http://twittertutors.com) - a MARCOM-marketing-communications provider. For example, here are the Top-10 business benefits of Twitter and online/onsite TwitterTutors Tips training. “Twitter is a very exciting social networking, social media and business opportunity for business and all organizations,” noted Tom Cross – CEO. “We focus our training on key management performance issues such as using Twitter for selling, customer support and communications.” TwitterTutors Tips is an hour of onsite or online actionable information to help organizations realize the potential of Twitter to reduce the sales cycle, reduce customer support costs, react to customer crises in realtime and overall improve customer satisfaction. TwitterCheckUP is an eight category analysis of your Twitter account in three levels – Good, Fair and Poor. TwitterTuneUP is an eight category analysis with a personal written evaluation or written and verbal with Q&A In addition, TwitterTutors Guide to be published in early 2011 will provide an ebook version of the online/onsite training.
Here are our TwitterTutors.com Top-10 Reasons to Twitter for your business, enterprise or organization:
1 – Most important, Twitter is like everything you do, it’s about people. Search is about finding things. You search for things, you buy from people. Even online, you want to make a personal connection with the provider. Because you want to know “if” you buy something from them, the will “be there” to help you if it doesn’t arrive ontime, is broken, needs repair and maybe get a replacement or new one when the time comes. Twitter is all about social, not search. Simply search is where people look (browse-search) for you, whereas, Twitter is all about push out ideas, help, commenting to your fans (followers), letting people know about your business and everything else. Key point is, with Twitter, followers must choose to follow you and can unfollow just as easy.
2 – Upsell – certainly and obviously, you can add “French fries” to your “Happy Meal” product. Customers don’t just want to buy once, they want to buy more and create a “social relationship” with the companies they buy from. One great friend Roger Toennis is building a social networking company called Loyal2me.com based all around customer loyalty and how providers can use loyalty to not just gain but retain customers. In other words, Twitter can help build that “be social, get close” strategy.
3 – Pitchsell – many companies have great “pitchmen” who are in the media “spotlight.” Not even company liked Carl’s Jr. can hire Paris Hilton to “push” their product but every company can have a Twitter-Talent pitching on their behalf. Twitter is very democratic, you build followers “one at a time” and they can with two clicks, unfollow you. If you are boring, not “on target,” not helpful or just waste people’s time with gibberish, then they will unfollow you.
4 – Resell – You can easily test new products or add (resell) other products to your product line quickly and easily. Since Twitter keeps you in touch with your follows instantly you can let them know what you are thinking and while you only have 140-characters, you can easily push them off to your website, blog or link.
5 - Cross-sell - one of the really creative and frankly, very social aspects of Twitter is “cross-selling.” Love the name as it’s my name but cross-selling is being so social you help your followers with other ideas. “You bought those shoes, then this hat, coat, makeup, spa, trip, skincare, iPhone app, car, etc. would go nicely with that.” Cross-selling is helping your customers be better people and in turn be better, more loyal customers to you. At TwitterTutors we think by showing you and telling you all we know, we can help you be more successful whether you use/need our help or not.
6 – Follow-up sales – Are you happy with the product you bought or just merely satisfied. Follow-up is not support, follow-up is about what can I do to help you improve your use, application or train you on the product.
7 – Shorter selling – We have provided tutorials for nearly a decade now proven to reduce the sales cycle. Twitter gets you “in the game” faster than other means. In business, you have, other than your product/service, only two principal means to marketing – time and money. Lady Gaga has been around for seven years but it’s only been a little more than a year that she skyrocketed to success. It may take that long to get your product/service to market. If, however, you have a gazillion dollars, you can let everyone know on the planet today what you have. Twitter gives you a “time warp factor” that can shorter the time to market and the customer sales cycle to purchase the product.
8 – Outselling the competition – if you are not talking (Twittering), they have the “microphone.” Your competitors will be talking to your prospective or current customers without you even walking in the door.
9 – Supporting Selling – This is easy. Twitter not just lets you talk to one customer but to a whole lot of them. Customer service can ruin a business if “by word of mouth” customers talk you down to their friends (remember we listen and believe our friends more than companies). Twitter shows you care, are concerned and willing to take immediate-instant action. This is because Twitter is about the “now,” not later, next week or never. Simply, if you don’t care, then don’t Twitter and your competition will love you for it.
10 - Cool selling – Twittering is actually a lot of fun, shows your customers you are engaged in social networking, social media and “with it” when it comes to innovative marcom-marketing-communications.
In conclusion, here are our Top-10 reasons to Twitter, you may argue with them or come up with your own but you are now a lot smarter about Twitter than you were even a little more than a minute ago.
We will leave you with one of Top-10 TwitterTutorsTips – rewrite it. Abe Lincoln rewrote the Gettysburg Address many times until he got it right and it has lasted quite a long time. Just because you can say it in 140 characters, rewrite at least one time from a different angle and you can learn that re-writing is almost as important as writing.

GoProSwimming.com Patent-Pending Cross-Stroke™ Announced
New Strategy for Swimming Crawl Reducing Stress, Strain, Injury
BOULDER – April 25, 2011 – GoProSwimming.com™ announced today an innovative new patent-pending approach to swimming and swim training lessons available at http://www.goproswimming.com. In traditional crawl swimming, “As the arm goes beneath the water, power is lost as there is no ability from shoulder muscles to pull the swimmer through the water,” noted stroke developer Tom Cross.

“The only forward force is gained as the arm passes the 90 degree mark (straight down) and the shoulder muscles push backward until the arm comes passed the hips and leaves the water.

In the Cross-Stroke™ video are examples to dramatize the poor performance and injury caused by traditional freestyle stroke swimming. The patent-pending Cross-Stroke™ maximizes performance through more effective use of both the bi- and triceps power muscles while nearly eliminating injury.
As shown in the video/animation training tutorial is an example of wasted effort and misuse of muscles.

That is, there is relatively little muscle strength in shoulder rotator cuff which can also result in inflamed and injured called "swimmer's shoulder."
In addition, there is no power in this part of the stroke, wasting time, energy and muscle effort. According to Maya Poulter, a competitive swimmer for more than ten years, “the biggest difference for me was that I swim a lot faster but also got a way better workout and burned more calories.” Courtney Bice, a swim instructor, noted “I have gotten a huge improvement in my lung capacity as well as increases in bicep and tricep strength and there is something for everyone with the Cross-Stroke™- it’s absolutely wonderful.”
(Full length comments from these and other swimmers are included in the video). The Cross-Stroke™ video is available downloadable in PC and iPod/iPhone formats from the http://www.goproswimming.com
The purpose of GoProSwimming.com™ is to provide a “fresh-face” to an overly crowded list of sports publications, newsletters and other publications. In addition, vendor/provider web sites are terribly confusing, and most importantly, often biased to a vendor solution.
GoProSwimming.com™ will also provide white papers, customer case studies, training courses and other customer-oriented material.
ABOUT GoProSwimming™ Corporation
